In the world of preserving our streets and highways, there are many options available.
Surface Treatments, consisting of an application of liquid asphalt emulsions and cover aggregate applied as a wearing course, have long been the most cost-effective methods for maintaining and preserving road surfaces.
Asphalt emulsion is applied to the road surface at a predetermined rate using a computerized distributor, followed by the application of sized aggregate. Finally, a rubber-tire roller is used to set the aggregate into the asphalt emulsion.
Typically, conventional chip seals are used when maintenance is required to improve and extend the life cycle of the road, but they can also be used for new construction.
FastTack® is a specially designed spray tack coat interlayer that not only breaks in as little as five minutes but greatly increases the adhesion of the pavement layers. It is particularly useful when cold or damp weather conditions delay the breaking process of a tack coat and can be applied anytime a tack coat or fogseal is required.
FastTack® also provides waterproofing properties to safeguard the substrate and base layers while ensuring excellent adhesion of the overlay to existing pavements.
Application is conducted with a typical asphalt distributor that has been modified with additional spray bars to apply the breaking and adhesion agents.
PennzSuppress® D is another form of dust palliative. It safely controls dust, stabilizes soil, and controls erosion. This one-of-a-kind emulsified resin product is the result of many years of research and development and is specially formulated to provide superior bonding to aggregates and soils.
