2025 Intern Experience

Every summer, enthusiastic interns across Barrett Industries are welcomed to gain hands-on experience in their desired field within the construction industry. This year, Midland had Kaly Phengsomphane join us as a Digital Media Marketing Intern. If you’re reading this blog, you’ve definitely read posts written by Kaly! Charlie Nash, part of the Pavement Preservation Division Rotational Program, also participated,

Barrett’s internship program provides an opportunity for students to grow as professionals. Each intern has daily functions, responsibilities, and a long-term project throughout the summer. At the end of the program, all the interns convene to present their final project presentations. These presentations are given to fellow colleagues, peers, and leadership, providing interns with the opportunity to strengthen their public speaking skills and showcase their hardwork from the summer. This year’s presentations were held in Columbus, Ohio, accompanied by a Columbus Crew Soccer Match and dinner!

Being an intern at Midland doesn’t just mean sitting in the office everyday. Our interns are given the opportunity to travel to numerous job sites and Midland’s locations. This is where they gain hands-on experience in pavement preservation processes and learn the significance of safety. Additionally, each week, interns participate in seminars about the different departments throughout Barrett, from safety to finance, allowing interns to garner a more thorough understanding of the construction industry.

Thank you to Kaly, Charlie, and all of Barrett Industries’ interns for your hard work!  We look forward to seeing where your future endeavors take you!
